Miquel Lledós, ESOC 2022: The influence of gut microbiome on ischaemic stroke risk and outcome
The composition of the gut microbiome is a modifiable factor associated with the risk of ischaemic stroke and post-stroke neurological outcome. Dr Miquel Lledós (Stroke Pharmacogenomics and Genetics Laboratory, Sant Pau Research Institute, Barcelona, Spain) discusses the outcome of a study using faecal samples to demonstrate the influence of the gut microbiome on ischaemic stroke risk and outcome.
The abstract entitled ‘New study links gut microbiota strains with more severe strokes and poorer post-stroke recovery‘ was presented at the 8th European Stroke Organisation Conference, May 4-6, 2022.
